Ficus hispida, known as Kathgulariya (कठगुलरिया), Kakodumbarika (काकोदुम्बरिका), or Kathgular (काठगुलर) in Nepali, is a versatile herbaceous plant belonging to the Moraceae family. It is a native species found in South Asia, particularly in Nepal, India, and surrounding regions. This plant is recognized for its medicinal properties and traditional uses in treating various ailments.

    Introduction

Ficus hispida is a deciduous plant that grows to a height of approximately 15–20 feet. The tree is characterized by its large leaves, which are about one foot long and half a foot wide. Its fruits, resembling small figs, grow abundantly on the branches and trunk. The leaves are rough to the touch and can cause mild itching when handled. The plant holds significant value in traditional medicine, especially in treating skin diseases and reproductive health issues.
