यो रूख गर्मी क्षेत्रमा हुने हाँगाहरू तलतिर झरेका गुम्बज आकारको अशोक बैशाखमा फुल्छ । असारतिर हरियो फल्ने भदौमा रातोकालो भई पाक्दछ । यसको बोक्रा औषधि कार्यमा प्रयोग गरिन्छ । भाव निघण्टुकारका मतानुसार अशोक मधुर, टर्रो, पीरो, गरम, शीतल, रक्तविकारनाशक, त्रिदोषशामक मानिन्छ । अशोक बोक्राले रक्तप्रदर, स्वेतप्रदर, मासिकधर्मको घटीबढी र गर्भाशयको सङ्कुचन आदिलाई ठीक गर्छ । पेट बढ्ने बिमार, अत्यधिक रक्तश्राव, मूत्रकृच्छ्र, अस्थिभङ्ग, उदरशूल, अर्श, वायुगोला आदिमा अशोकले लाभ पुऱ्याउँछ । यसको बोक्रारस बहुत तेज सङ्कोचक भएकाले रक्तश्रावमा तत्काल फाइदा दिन्छ । स्त्रीरोगमा अशोकले धेरै कल्याण पुऱ्याउँछ । यसको धूलो १/१ चम्चा खानाको १ घण्टा अगाडि पानीसँग खानुपर्छ । अशोकको भित्री बोक्रा धूलो बनाएर रसाञ्जन वा गिलोय सत्त्व, कुरिलो वा रानी कुरिलो, गुर्जो वा ब्राह्मी, भृङ्गराज वा बेलपत्रसमान भाग मिसाएर दिनमा ५-७ पटक आधा चम्चाको दरले खाँदा समस्त रोगमा लाभकारी हुन्छ। अशोक धूलोमा घ्यूसँग पाक गरी अशोकघृत खान सकिन्छ । यसलाई पकाएका अष्टमांस काँढापानीमा गुड मिलाएर घोल्नुपर्छ । यसमा त्रिफला, सहदेवी, असुरो, पान, धायरीफूल, पिपला, आदि ५-७ चीज २-३ तोला माटोको भाँडामा जाँड (अवलेह) गुम्स्याउनुपर्छ । जाँडलाई ५-७ दिनमा रक्सी ( अर्क) बनाउनुपर्छ । तब स्त्रीहरूको गुणकारी अशोकारिष्ट पान गरी रोगलाई घटाउन र हटाउन सकिन्छ ।
