यो १५-२० फिट अग्लो, पात बाटुला, बोक्रा कालो, कोसा लाग्ने भित्र भुवा र बीज हुन्छ । गुण-धर्म : अति तितो स्वाद र स्वभाव शीतल । यसको बोक्रा र बीजले रक्तक्यान्सर, अर्श, सङ्ग्रहणी, पेटको घाउ, एचआइभी/एड्स, हैजा, फोक्सो-अर्बुद, मोटोपन, फोक्सो सुन्निएको, पखाला, पेटको खतरा कृमि, क्षयरोग आदि सन्चो गराउँछ। मात्रा : ३-५ ग्राम धूलो १-२ पटक, काँढापानी : १/१ गिलास, अर्क : १०-२० ग्राम, भस्म : १-२ ग्राम, लेदो : २-३ ग्राम १-२ पटक । यो कति तीतो ? मुखै टेणो पार्ने !

    परिचय

    गाईखिर्रो एक मध्यम आकारको पतझड वृक्ष हो। आयुर्वेदमा यसलाई 'कुटज' पनि भनिन्छ। यो विशेषगरी १५ देखि २० फिटसम्म अग्लो हुन्छ। यसको नाम 'antidysenterica' ले नै यसको मुख्य काम पखाला र आउँ (Dysentery) निको पार्नु हो भन्ने संकेत गर्छ। यसको बोक्रा, पात, फूल र बीउ सबैमा औषधीय गुणहरू भरिएका हुन्छन्।

    नेपालको सन्दर्भमा गाईखिर्रो तराईदेखि मध्य पहाडी भेगका जङ्गलहरूमा प्रशस्त मात्रामा पाइन्छ। समुद्री सतहबाट करिब १,३०० मिटरसम्मको उचाइमा यो राम्ररी फस्टाउँछ। नेपालबाहेक यो भारत, बंगलादेश, म्यानमार र दक्षिण-पूर्वी एसियाका विभिन्न देशहरूमा पाइन्छ। सुख्खा ठाउँ र पहाडी ढिस्कोहरूमा यो सजिलै हुर्कन सक्छ।

     

    भौतिक गुणहरू

    गाईखिर्रोलाई चिन्नका लागि यसका निम्न भौतिक विशेषताहरू ध्यान दिनुपर्छ:

    उचाइ: यो प्रायः १५-२० फिट अग्लो हुन्छ।

    पात: यसका पातहरू केही बाटुला, अण्डाकार र चिल्ला हुन्छन्।

    बोक्रा: यसको काण्डको बोक्रा बाहिरबाट खस्रो र कालो वा खरानी रङ्गको हुन्छ।

    फूल र फल: यसमा सेता र सुगन्धित फूलहरू फुल्छन्। यसको फल लामो कोसा जस्तो हुन्छ, जसको भित्र भुवा र बीउहरू (इन्द्रजौ) हुन्छन्।

    स्वाद: यो यति धेरै तीतो हुन्छ कि यसलाई सेवन गर्दा मुख नै टेडो पार्ने खालको हुन्छ। यसको स्वभाव शीतल (ठण्डा) मानिन्छ।

     

    फाइदा

    गाईखिर्रोलाई 'अमृत' समान मानिनुको मुख्य कारण यसले निको पार्ने गम्भीर रोगहरू हुन्:

    १. पेटको समस्या: पखाला, हैजा र सङ्ग्रहणी (IBS) का लागि यो अचुक औषधि हो। पेटमा रहेका हानिकारक जुका र कृमिहरू नष्ट गर्न यसले मद्दत गर्छ।

    २. रगत र क्यान्सर: यसको प्रयोगले रक्तक्यान्सर र फोक्सोको अर्बुद (Cancer) विरुद्ध लड्न शरीरलाई शक्ति दिन्छ।

    ३. प्रतिरक्षा प्रणाली: एचआइभी/एड्स जस्ता गम्भीर अवस्थामा शरीरको प्रतिरोध क्षमता बढाउन र संक्रमण कम गर्न यसको प्रयोग गरिन्छ।

    प्रयोग विधि

    गाईखिर्रोको प्रयोग रोगको प्रकृति हेरी विभिन्न तरिकाले गर्न सकिन्छ। सामान्यतया निम्न मात्रालाई सुरक्षित मानिन्छ:

    चूर्ण (धुलो): ३ देखि ५ ग्राम धुलो दिनको १-२ पटक पानीसँग सेवन गर्ने।

    काँढापानी: यसको बोक्रालाई उमालेर बनाइएको १ गिलास काँढापानी बिहान-बेलुका पिउन सकिन्छ।

    अर्क: १० देखि २० ग्रामको मात्रामा यसको रस वा अर्क लिन सकिन्छ।

    भस्म: १ देखि २ ग्राम भस्मको रूपमा प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ।

    लेदो (पेस्ट): छालाको घाउ वा बाहिरी समस्याका लागि २-३ ग्राम लेदो बनाएर लगाउन सकिन्छ।

    (द्रष्टव्य: प्रयोग गर्नुअघि आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सकसँग सल्लाह लिनु अनिवार्य छ।)

     

    खेती, उत्पादन र संरक्षण

    गाईखिर्रो प्राकृतिक रूपमा जङ्गलमा पाइने भए पनि यसको व्यावसायिक खेतीको सम्भावना ठूलो छ।

    प्रसारण: यसको बीउबाट नयाँ बिरुवाहरू उमार्न सकिन्छ। वर्षायामको सुरुवातमा यसको वृक्षारोपण गर्नु उपयुक्त हुन्छ।

    माटो: यो बलौटे र पानी नजम्ने माटोमा राम्ररी सप्रिन्छ।
