यो १-२ फिट अग्लो, हाँगा कमलो हरियो, पत्र बहुविभक्त, फूल सेतो छत्राकार, फल टेढो लामो कालो करिब ७ मि.मि. लामो र २ मि.मि. चौडा दुवैतिर चुच्चो परेको हुन्छ । यो उत्तरी हिमालतिर फर्किएको

समशीतोष्ण हावापानीमा पाइन्छ । यसको खेती गरी औषधीय कालोजीराबाट लाभ लिनुपर्छ । स्वाद : मिठो, बास्नादार, परपराउने। स्वभाव : गरम किन्तु शामक । गुण-धर्म : दीपन पाचक, वातानुलोमक अग्निवर्द्धक, स्तन्यजनन, पाचनसंस्थानको उपयोगी | उपयोग : यसको बीजले अग्निमन्द, निम्नरक्तचाप, हैजा, जीर्णज्वर, शूल, अर्श, पेट दुख्ने -पोल्ने, गानोगोला, गर्भाशय सुन्निने, दम, खोकी, पिनास इत्यादिमा अचुक उपचार गरी सन्चो बनाउँछ। मात्रा : १-२ ग्राम, अर्क र स्वरस १० - २० ग्राम, अत्तर : १- थोपा, भस्म : १- ग्राम, काँढापानी १ / १ माना ३-५ पटक ।

    प्रकृतिले नेपाललाई अथाह जडीबुटीको वरदान दिएको छ। तीमध्ये 'कृष्णजीरक', जसलाई हामी सामान्य भाषामा कालो जीरा वा स्याहजीरा भन्छौँ, एक अत्यन्तै प्रभावशाली औषधीय गुणले भरिपूर्ण मसला एवं जडीबुटी हो। यसको वैज्ञानिक नाम Carum carvi हो।

    परिचय

    कृष्णजीरक एक सुगन्धित स्वादिलो जडीबुटी हो। यो गाँजर प्रजातिको बिरुवा हो। हेर्दा सामान्य जीरा जस्तै देखिए पनि यसको रङ गाढा कालो हुन्छ यसको सुगन्ध तथा गुण साधारण जीराभन्दा निकै शक्तिशाली हुन्छ। आयुर्वेदमा यसलाई 'दीपन' (भोक जगाउने) 'पाचन' (खाएको पचाउने) द्रव्यका रूपमा उच्च स्थान दिइएको छ। यसको स्वाद केही मिठो तर जिब्रोमा राख्दा अलि परपराउने (pungent) खालको हुन्छ।

    नेपालको सन्दर्भमा यो विशेषगरी उत्तरी हिमाली क्षेत्र समशीतोष्ण हावापानी भएको भेगमा पाइन्छ। समुद्री सतहबाट उच्च उचाइमा रहेका पहाडी हिमाली ढलानहरूमा यसको राम्रो उपस्थिति रहन्छ। नेपाल बाहेक यो भारतको हिमालय क्षेत्र, मध्य एसिया, युरोप उत्तर अफ्रिकाका विभिन्न भागहरूमा पनि प्रशस्त मात्रामा पाइन्छ। पछिल्लो समय यसको व्यावसायिक महत्त्व बढेकाले धेरै देशहरूमा यसको योजनाबद्ध खेती गर्न थालिएको छ।

     

    भौतिक गुणहरू

    कृष्णजीरकको बिरुवा दानाका आफ्नै विशिष्ट विशेषताहरू छन्:

    उचाइ: यो बिरुवा सामान्यतया देखि फिटसम्म अग्लो हुन्छ।

    काण्ड पात: यसका हाँगाहरू कमलो हरियो रङका हुन्छन्। पातहरू मसिनो गरी काटिएका वा बहुविभक्त (feathery) देखिन्छन्।

    फूल: यसको फूल सेतो रङको हुन्छ छाता जस्तो आकार (Umbels) मा फुल्छ।

    फल (दाना): यसको दाना करिब मि.मि. लामो मि.मि. चौडा हुन्छ। यो केही टेढो, दुवैतिर चुच्चो परेको गाढा कालो रङको हुन्छ।

    फाइदा

    कृष्णजीरक स्वास्थ्यका लागि एउटा अचुक औषधि मानिन्छ। यसका मुख्य फाइदाहरू निम्न छन्:

    . पाचन प्रणालीमा सुधार: यसले पेटमा अग्नि प्रदीप्त गरी भोक जगाउँछ खाएको कुरा सजिलै पचाउन मद्दत गर्छ।

    . पेटका समस्या: ग्यास्ट्रिक, पेट फुल्ने (गानोगोला), शूल (कडा दुखाइ) हैजा जस्ता समस्यामा यो निकै प्रभावकारी छ।

    . श्वासप्रश्वासमा राहत: दम, पुरानो खोकी पिनास भएका बिरामीका लागि यसको सेवनले वायु नली खुला गर्न मद्दत गर्छ।

    . अन्य: अर्श (पाइल्स) पिसाब सम्बन्धी समस्यामा पनि यसको प्रयोग लाभदायक मानिन्छ।

     

    प्रयोग विधि

    यसलाई रोग आवश्यकता अनुसार विभिन्न तरिकाले प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ:

    चूर्ण (धूलो): साधारणतया देखि ग्राम कालो जीराको धूलो मनतातो पानीसँग दिनको दुई पटक सेवन गर्न सकिन्छ।

    अर्क वा स्वरस: यसको अर्क वा रस १० देखि २० ग्रामसम्म सेवन गर्न उपयुक्त हुन्छ।

    काँढापानी (Decoction): करिब माना पानीमा यसलाई पकाएर तयार पारिएको काँढा दिनको - पटक थोरै थोरै गरेर पिउनाले पेटको विकार निको हुन्छ।

    अत्तर (Essential Oil): यसको शुद्ध तेल वा अत्तरको थोपा मात्र प्रयोग गर्नु पर्याप्त हुन्छ।

    भस्म: विशेष विधिबाट बनाइएको भस्म ग्रामसम्म चिकित्सकको सल्लाहमा प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ।

     

    खेती, उत्पादन संरक्षण

    कृष्णजीरकको खेतीबाट कृषकहरूले राम्रो आम्दानी गर्न सक्छन्। यसको खेतीका लागि समशीतोष्ण हावापानी खुकुलो, पानी नजम्ने दोमट माटो उपयुक्त हुन्छ।

    लगाउने समय: उच्च पहाडी भेगमा यसलाई हिउँदको समयमा लगाइन्छ।

    संरक्षण: प्राकृतिक रूपमा पाइने कृष्णजीरकलाई जथाभाबी उखेल्नु हुँदैन। यसको बीउ परिपक्व भएपछि मात्र संकलन गर्नुपर्छ।
