Chulsi can be used in several ways depending on the illness. However, correct dosage is important. Traditional dosage includes:

Decoction (Kadha): About 1 mana (local measuring unit), taken 3–5 times daily

Extract (Arka): 20–30 grams, 3–5 times daily

The decoction is made by boiling the herb in water until the water reduces and absorbs the medicinal properties.

For throat problems, the root can be sucked directly for faster relief.

It is always better to consult a knowledgeable herbal practitioner before using the herb, especially for children, pregnant women, or people with chronic diseases.

    Harvesting & Preservation

Chulsi is usually harvested during its mature stage, especially when the plant is flowering. At this stage, the medicinal properties are believed to be strongest.

    Harvesting tips:

    Select healthy and disease-free plants.

Uproot carefully if roots are needed.

Avoid over-harvesting to protect natural growth.

    Preservation methods:

    Clean the plant parts properly.

Dry them in shade, not in direct sunlight, to preserve medicinal quality.

Store in an airtight container in a cool and dry place.

Proper drying and storage help maintain its effectiveness for a longer time.
