यो ३-५ फिट अग्लो, गजभर लामो पात, हल्का पहेँलो-सेतो भदौतिर रातो थुङ्गामा फुल्छ, मङ्सिरमा थुङ्गाभित्र सुक्छ । यो समशीतोष्ण क्षेत्रमा सर्वत्र पाइन्छ। यसले बाहिरी शरीरका घाउहरू सन्चो पार्छ, आन्द्रालगायत पेटका घाउमा लाभ दिन्छ । यसको जरा खैरो र सानो हुन्छ । मात्रा : ३-५ ग्राम मनतातो पानीसँग दिनमा २ पटक । मासिकधर्ममा रगत धेरै गएमा, अण्ड कोष सुन्निने / बिग्रेमा १ चम्चा धूलो ३-५ ग्राम लेदो, १/१ माना काँढापानी, ३०-५० ग्राम अर्क २ पटक ।

नेपालको प्राकृतिक विविधतामा यस्ता धेरै वनस्पतिहरू छन्, जसले हाम्रो स्वास्थ्यका लागि अमृत समान काम गर्छन्। ती मध्ये 'गजहलेदो' एक विशिष्ट र प्रभावशाली जडिबुटी हो। यसलाई संस्कृतमा 'वन हरिद्रा' र अंग्रेजीमा 'Wild Turmeric' भनिन्छ। साधारण हलेदोभन्दा यसको गुण र बास्ना फरक हुने भएकाले यसलाई विशेष मानिन्छ।

    परिचय

    गजहलेदो (Curcuma aromatica) अदुवा परिवार (Zingiberaceae) अन्तर्गत पर्ने एक औषधिजन्य वनस्पति हो। यो ३ देखि ५ फिटसम्म अग्लो हुन्छ। यसका पातहरू गजभर (लामो) र फराकिला हुन्छन्, जसले गर्दा यसलाई 'गजहलेदो' भनिएको हो। यसको फूल भदौ महिनातिर रातो थुङ्गामा फुल्छ, जुन देख्नमा निकै आकर्षक हुन्छ। मङ्सिर लाग्दा यो थुङ्गाभित्रै सुकेर जान्छ। यसको गानो बाहिरबाट खैरो र भित्र हल्का पहेँलो-सेतो रंगको हुन्छ, जसमा कपुरको जस्तो हल्का सुगन्ध पाइन्छ।

    गजहलेदो मुख्यतया दक्षिण एशियाका समशीतोष्ण र उष्ण प्रदेशीय क्षेत्रहरूमा पाइन्छ।

    नेपाल: यो नेपालको पहाडी र तराईका क्षेत्रमा सर्वत्र पाइन्छ। विशेष गरी ओसिलो र छाया पर्ने वनजंगलहरूमा यो प्राकृतिक रूपमा उम्रन्छ।

    अन्य देशहरू: भारत, श्रीलंका, र भुटान जस्ता देशहरूमा पनि यसको उपलब्धता प्रशस्त छ। व्यावसायिक रूपमा यसको खेती दक्षिण-पूर्वी एशियाका धेरै भागहरूमा गरिन्छ।

     

    भौतिक गुणहरू

    यस वनस्पतिको आफ्नै विशिष्ट भौतिक विशेषताहरू छन्:

    उचाइ: यो ३ देखि ५ फिटसम्म अग्लो हुन्छ।

    पात: यसका पातहरू लामा र चिल्ला हुन्छन्।

    फूल: भदौतिर रातो थुङ्गामा फुल्ने र मङ्सिरमा सुक्ने यसको मुख्य पहिचान हो।

    जरा (गानो): यसको जरा वा गानो अन्य हलेदोको तुलनामा सानो र खैरो हुन्छ। भित्रपट्टि यो पूर्ण पहेँलो नभई हल्का सेतो-पहेँलो देखिन्छ।

    गन्ध: यसमा एक प्रकारको कस्तुरी जस्तो बास्ना (Aromatic smell) हुन्छ।

     

    फाइदा

    गजहलेदो औषधीय गुणको खानी नै हो। यसका मुख्य फाइदाहरू निम्न छन्:

    घाउ खटिरामा उपयोगी: शरीरको बाहिरी भागमा लागेका घाउ, चोटपटक र सुन्निएको ठाउँमा यसले अचुक औषधिको काम गर्छ।

    आन्तरिक स्वास्थ्य: यसले आन्द्रा र पेट भित्र रहेका घाउ (Ulcers) निको पार्न मद्दत गर्छ।

    प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य: पुरुषहरूको अण्डकोष सुन्निने वा बिग्रेको समस्यामा यो लाभदायक हुन्छ।

    महिला स्वास्थ्य: मासिक धर्मका बेला अत्यधिक रक्तश्राव हुने समस्या (Heavy Bleeding) लाई नियन्त्रण गर्न यसको प्रयोग गरिन्छ।

    चर्म रोग: छालाको चमक बढाउन र दागधब्बा हटाउन यसको लेदो प्रयोग गरिन्छ।

     

    प्रयोग विधि

    गजहलेदोलाई समस्या अनुसार विभिन्न तरिकाले प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ:

    धूलोको रूपमा: सामान्य औषधिको रूपमा ३-५ ग्राम गजहलेदोको धूलो मनतातो पानीसँग दिनको दुई पटक सेवन गर्न सकिन्छ।

     

    काँढापानी (Decoction): १ माना पानीमा यसलाई पकाएर बनाइएको काँढापानी ३०-५० ग्रामको मात्रामा दिनको दुई पटक पिउनु लाभदायक हुन्छ।

    लेदो (Paste): बाहिरी घाउ वा सुन्निएको ठाउँमा यसको ३-५ ग्राम लेदो बनाएर लगाउन सकिन्छ।

    अर्क: विशिष्ट समस्याहरूमा यसको अर्क ३०-५० ग्राम प्रयोग गर्ने सल्लाह दिइन्छ।

     

    खेती, उत्पादन र संरक्षण

    गजहलेदोको व्यावसायिक खेती गरेर राम्रो आम्दानी गर्न सकिन्छ:

    माटो र जलवायु: प्राङ्गारिक पदार्थयुक्त, निकासको व्यवस्था भएको दुमट माटो यसका लागि उत्तम हुन्छ। यसलाई धेरै घाम भन्दा पनि हल्का छाया भएको ठाउँ मनपर्छ।

    रोप्ने समय: चैत-वैशाखमा यसको गानो रोपिन्छ र मङ्सिर-पुसतिर खनिन्छ।

    संरक्षण: वनजंगलमा पाइने प्राकृतिक गजहलेदोको जथाभावी दोहन रोक्नुपर्छ। यसलाई संरक्षण गर्न र यसको महत्त्व बुझाउन स्थानीय स्तरमा चेतना फैलाउनु आवश्यक छ।

    Introduction

    Gajahaledo, known scientifically as Curcuma aromatica, is a very useful medicinal herb. It belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and is closely related to turmeric. In Nepal, it is called गजहलेदो and has been used in traditional healing for many generations. It grows from an underground root called a rhizome, which is the main medicinal part of the plant.

    This plant grows about 3 to 5 feet tall. It has long leaves, about the length of a forearm. Its flowers are light yellow-white, and they bloom in a red cluster around the month of Bhadra (August–September). Later, around Mangsir (November–December), the flower dries inside the cluster.
