white to pale pink flower clusters. Its small round edible berries taste
slightly sweet and sour.
Availability in Nepal and Other Countries

forests and hillsides between 1,200–2,500 meters. People in Nepal’s Tamang
community use it traditionally.
- Other countries: It’s found in Bhutan, China,
India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand,
Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea.

that lives for several years and climbs on other plants).
- Height: Usually 2–3 m (6–10 ft) but may grow shorter if
not supported.

tannins that help clot blood and stop bleeding (e.g. nosebleed,
hemorrhoids, excessive menstrual bleeding).

Issues: Used traditionally to treat diarrhea, dysentery,
colitis, intestinal worms, and stomach pain

liver-protective effects (lowers liver enzymes, boosts antioxidants).

muscle cramps, fevers, and scorpion or snake bites. Research confirms
anti-inflammatory properties in lab and animal tests.

potential:
High phenolic content with antioxidant activity; early research shows
promise in cancer-prevention studies.
