    परिचय

    कुवेराक्ष (वैज्ञानिक नाम: Strereospermum species  ) नेपालको समशीतोष्ण जलवायुमा पाइने एक औषधीय रूख हो। यसलाई सानो पाढल पनि भनिन्छ। यो रूख ४०५० फिट अग्लो हुन्छ यसको बीउ आधा अङ्गुल लामो, बदाम आकारको, खरानी रङ्गको हुन्छ। यसको स्वाद मीठो-गुलियो स्वभाव शीतल छ। आयुर्वेदमा यसलाई धेरै रोगहरूको उपचारको लागि प्रयोग गरिन्छ।

    उपलब्धता

    कुवेराक्ष नेपालको तराई, चुरे पर्वत, मध्य पहाडी क्षेत्रमा पाइन्छ। यसको प्रजातिहरू भारत, बङ्गलादेश, श्रीलङ्का, म्यानमार, थाइल्याण्ड, लाओस, इन्डोनेसियामा पनि पाइन्छन्। नेपालमा यो जङ्गल आँपखरानी क्षेत्रमा स्वतः उम्रन्छ।

    शारीरिक गुणहरू

    • रूख: १२१५ मिटर अग्लो, छाला खैरो-कालो, पातहरू डाँठमा जोर्निएका।
    • फूल: सेता वा हल्का पहेँला, घण्टी आकारका, सुगन्धित।
    • फल: लामा पोकाहरू, बीउहरू पखालिएका।
    • बीउ: आधा इन्च लामो, बदामजस्तो आकार, कडा खोल भएको।

    औषधीय गुणहरू

    आयुर्वेद अनुसार कुवेराक्ष:

    • रस (स्वाद): मधुर (मीठो)
    • गुण (प्रकृति): शीतल (ठण्डा)
    • वीर्य (शक्ति): शीतल
    • विपाक (पाचन पछिको प्रभाव): मधुर

    यसमा एन्टी-इन्फ्लामेटरी, एन्टी-पायरेटिक (ज्वरघटक), रक्तशोधक, टनिक (शक्तिवर्धक) गुणहरू छन्।

    फाइदा

    ज्वर नाशक: कमजोरीबाट हुने ज्वरमा प्रभावकारी।
    रक्तशोधक: रगत सफा गरेर रक्ताल्पता (एनिमिया) हटाउँछ।
    शक्तिवर्धक: शारीरिक कमजोरी हटाएर बल बढाउँछ।
    जोर्नी दुखाइ: गठिया (आर्थराइटिस) जोर्नी दुखाइमा आराम दिन्छ।
    पित्तशामक: पित्त बढी भएमा कमलपित्त (जन्डिस)मा फाइदा गर्छ।

    प्रयोग विधि

    • बीउको चूर्ण:  ग्राम चूर्ण काँढा पानीसँग मिसाएर सेवन गर्ने।
    • काढा: बीउ वा छालाको काढा बनाएर पिउने।
    • स्वरस (रस): ताजा बीउको गुदी निकालेर चम्चा सेवन गर्न सकिन्छ।

    संग्रह संरक्षण

    • संग्रह समय: वर्षायाममा फल पाकेपछि बीउ संकलन गर्ने।
    • संरक्षण: सुकेलो बीउ एयरटाइट कन्टेनरमा राख्ने।
    • छाला पात: छायामा सुकाएर भण्डारण गर्ने।

    Introduction

    Kuberaksha, also known as Patala in Ayurveda and commonly referred to as the Yellow Snake Tree, encompasses species like Stereospermum colais and Stereospermum tetragonum. Belonging to the Bignoniaceae family, these deciduous trees are revered in traditional medicine systems, particularly in Ayurveda, for their therapeutic properties. In Nepal, they are locally known as सानो पाढल and are integral to various herbal formulations.

     

    Availability in Nepal and Other Countries

    In Nepal, Kuberaksha thrives in the mid-hill regions, especially in moist deciduous forests up to elevations of 1,400 meters. The species is also prevalent across the Indian subcontinent, including India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and extends to Southeast Asian countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and parts of southern China.

     

    Physical Properties

    Tree Characteristics:

    • Height: Typically ranges from 15 to 25 meters.
    • Leaves: Imparipinnate, opposite, measuring 25–45 cm in length with 5–11 elliptic to oblong leaflets.
    • Flowers: Large, trumpet-shaped, pale yellow, occurring in panicles.
    • Fruits: Long, four-angled capsules, slightly curved, measuring 30–70 cm in length.
    • Seeds: Winged, facilitating wind dispersal.

     

    Medicinal Properties

    Kuberaksha is esteemed for its diverse medicinal attributes:

    • Anti-inflammatory and Anti-arthritic: Ethanolic extracts have demonstrated significant reduction in inflammation and arthritic symptoms in experimental models.
    • Antidiabetic and Hypolipidemic: Methanolic fruit extracts have shown efficacy in lowering blood glucose and lipid levels in diabetic rats.

    • Harvesting: Roots are typically harvested after five years of growth to ensure optimal medicinal properties.
